Josh Mandel wird Defensive Coordinator der Berlin Rebels

Josh Mandel wird die Geschicke der Defense in der anstehenden GFL Saison bei den Berlin Rebels leiten. Der hauptberufliche Lehrer der John F. Kennedy School Berlin kehrt wie Darius Outlaw und Rory Johnson nach nur einem Jahr wieder zu den Berlin Rebels zurück. Hier hat er bereits in den Jahren 2011 bis 2013 als Positionscoach gearbeitet. Nun stellt er sich neuen Herausforderungen. Wir haben mit Josh Mandel, der erstmalig in die Rolle des DC schlüpft, gesprochen.

Berlin Rebels: "Es ist schön, dass Du wieder zum Rebels Coaching Staff gehörst. Wie fühlst Du Dich?"

Josh Mandel: "I am extremely grateful that Andreas, Dogan, Javier and Cliff wanted to bring me back to the Rebels.

The opportunity that was offered to me to become the Defensive Coordinator is incredible. I cannot put into words how it feels to be with the Rebels, in a position such as this, and to work with an incredible staff and team."

Berlin Rebels: "Wie denkst Du über Deine neue Coaching Position und welche neuen Aufgaben werden wohl auf Dich zukommen?"

Josh Mandel: "Being hired as the DC is something I never thought would happen. Since moving to Berlin in 2010, I have worked under 2 amazing DC’s, Javier Cook with the Rebels for 3 years, then in 2014 with Jag Bal and the Adler. There is nothing easy about this job, it is stressful and demands patience, knowledge and preparation. I want our defense and team to be prepared in all aspects of the game."

Berlin Rebels: "Was erwartest Du in der anstehenden GFL Saison?"

Josh Mandel: "I have high expectations for our team. The Rebels had a tough season last year. As a staff and team we have to have the same goals and work together to accomplish them. There is no doubt that this season will have many challenges but nothing worth accomplishing is ever easy. I believe that our staff and team are ready to sacrifice many things in order to succeed and I for one look forward to taking these steps with the Rebels."
